MONTRÉAL FASHION WEEK: Prêt-à-Porter

Montreal Fashion WeekIt’s fashion frenzy this month as the 13th edition of Montréal Fashion Week (MFW) hits the proverbial catwalk. The annual fête is a hallowed occasion for Montréal’s glamour crowd, and brings together top designers and budding couturiers over four days of form-fitting fun. Québec’s biggest names come out to show off their spring-summer collections for 2008, while up-and-coming talent are courted in hopes of finding the next Eve Gravel or Philippe Dubuc. Local luminaries Rush Couture, Morales and Marisa Minicucci present collections this year, but it’s the up-and-comers you can’t afford to miss, not to mention this year’s animal-friendly Ethical Fashion Show. Kate and Naomi would be proud. It’s important to note that not all events are open to the public, but those that are promise plenty in the party department. On October 9, catch the opening night after-show soirée at Time Boutique & Café (3509 Saint-Laurent Blvd.) with DJs jojoflores and Christian Pronovost. On Wednesday it’s “Dolce vita meets Fashion Week” at Buonanotte (October 10, 3518 Saint-Laurent Blvd.) and Thursday night’s official closing blowout goes down at the ultra-swank Tribe Hyperclub (390 Saint-Jacques Street West).
